To be able to Heli ski, skiers need to be reasonably fit with some experience in fresh snow.
We start with one or two lessons on Mt Hutt and assess your ability.
Neil Parker will then coach you to the standard before we go to the big mountains.

Where’s Mt Hutt?If you’re overseas; fly to Christchurch & travel to Mt Hutt Village – Methven by rental car or shuttle.
Check into your accommodation and then travel to Mt Hutt. You may wish to book your entire vacation through an agent with the luxury of self-drive.

Intermediate to expert skiers and snow boarders can enjoy the stunning wilderness of New Zealand’s mountains with a day of heliskiing. Professional guides will take you by helicopter to ski or board untracked snow, amongst world class mountains and glaciers.

Mt Hutt. Mt Hutt leads the way in NZ for Children’s coaching.
Your children are old enough to enjoy an alpine experience and you can enjoy your winter holiday secure in the knowledge that they are in best of care, starting on an adventure that could last a lifetime.
They get to explore the mountain and shortly go faster than you. I recommend either half day or full day personal training for your children. Let’s have fun and keep safe while we get better at this game- skis or snow blades. We can even join Mum and Dad for a few runs and a bit of family time. Please ask to ski with Neil Parker.

This list is what I personally recommend to take on a skiing holiday / vacation.
It is based on over 30 years experience with guests enjoying their winter snow vacation. Holiday at Mt Hutt New Zealand and ski with Neil, instructor for 30 years.
Wool hat – fleece lined.
Sunglasses.
Goggles – double lens (for snowy / windy days). Ski jacket.
Ski pants.
Sweater or fleece (best to dress in layers).
Turtle necks – 1 a day.
Neck gaiter.
Warm ski gloves or mittens.
(Mittens are much warmer.)
Long underwear – 2 to 3 pairs.
Ski socks (thin wool-blend) – 3 pairs.
Sunblock SPF 15+.
Chap stick/ lip balm SPF 15.
Waterproof street boots/ shoes.
Bathing suits – limited sizes sold locally.
(For the spa)
Apreski /Evenings. Casual clothes, jeans are accepted everywhere. Evenings can be much colder, so bring a warm coat.
Methven which services Mt Hutt has a range of restaurants/ bars/ cafes/ take-aways to cater for all needs.
Park City and Deer Valley boast over 100 restaurants etc. with a special service supplying excellent take away food to your house or condo. Deer Valley consistently wins the awards for Best On Mountain Food, Best Grooming and Best Guest Service in North America. Hot tubs or pools are standard at most lodgings. Bring a bathing suit.
Ski equipment, clothes and accessories can be purchased or hired locally. If something doesn’t suit (e.g. uncomfortable boots; inappropriate skis / clothing), it is usually much easier to deal with a local ski shop. In this way the situation may be resolved and skiing resumed! At Deer Valley my personal recommendation is the Deer Valley Rental.
