A “one liner” to remember for future skiing.
After skiing with my guests I like to ask them for that tip that enabled them to improve. With their permission I write that snowtip here for them to view before their next snow experience.
Aug 19 – 20 Brittany. NZ. Balance your shoulder out towards your outside ski.
Jul 10 Lyn Hawke. Christchurch NZ. Look ahead + toes!
Jul 8 Lian McKoy. Auckland NZ. Bend your ankle first when you bend your legs.
Jun 28 Alex & Fliss Milligan. Auckland NZ. Make a ‘pizza’ with your skis and remember ‘aeroplanes’.
Jun 25 Ann Richardson. Sydney Aust. Use your wrist only when pole planting. Rely on your legs rather than your upper body to turn your skis.
Jun 29 Andrew. (Stockbroker) Melbourne Aust. Balance your upper body towards your outside ski – no twisting!
Jun 11-12 Liann Thio. Singapore. Move your shoulder towards your outside ski. Drag that pole as practice.
Apr 8 Bob & Michelle Leibowitz. UT. Move your stomach (belt buckle) in the direction you want to go. Move both skis together down the hill.
Apr 7 Greg & Chris Turner & Anne FL. Balance on your toes. Move forward to start your turn.
Mar 30 – 31 Mark Ramsey, Michael Waluzak, Mike Blue Ohio. Pole plant to reach downhill. Move forward to enter the new turn. Balance earlier on the new ski.
Mar 30 Stephen Goll Florida. Balancing on both skis when turning them downhill.
Mar 29 Bob Sinnott UT. Turn your inside ski for powder.
Mar 27 – 28 Zack Tevanian CA. Keep your pizza without the “edgie- wedgie”.

Feb 5 – 6 John & Bobby McGlinn. Bobby – do the ‘big toe’ thing earlier and earlier in the turn. John – plant your pole on the bump. On groomed snow do the ‘rubber band ‘thing.
Feb 4 Willie Hunt. Make your ‘pizza’ and then your ‘french fries’.
Feb 1 – 2 Dawn Curtis. TX. Feel your downhill leg bending as well as the uphill one.
Jan 30 – 31 Barry & Ina Orr. New Jersey. Ina-Make your ‘banana’ as you look ahead. Barry-Allow gravity to lead you down the hill.
Jan 28 Mary Lynn Silvestro. Ohio.Roll your feet from side to side.
Jan 27 Maria. Mexico. Turn your feet in the wedge to turn your skis.
Jan 26 Mark Ramsey. Ohio. Relax the ‘small’ of your back to make balancing easier.
Jan 20 – 21 Debbie Vangelos. Use a smaller wedge and turn to control your speed.
Jan 18 Wally. Move your outside shoulder over your outside ski.
Jan 17 Julia Averbuck, Brazil. Turn your skis across the mountain to slow down.
Jan 16 Julia & Thomas Averbuck, Brazil. Balance in the middle of your foot.
Jan 15 – 17 Alain Borel, White Post, VA. Tip your skis up onto their edges for the groomed. ‘Skid’ your skis in the bumps.
Jan 14 Art, Alison & Roy, Texas. Open your skis to a ‘pizza’ and then make ‘french fries’. (Send me a copy of the photo please.)
Jan 13 Katy & Allie, Texas. Either press on the ‘orange’ or the ‘lemon’. Dress with lots of layers for skiing.
Jan 11 John & Becky Millar. John – Complete the turn on your right leg for control. Becky – Looking downhill allows you to move your hips over your feet.
Jan 1 Thomas Keough, Oregon. Move in and out of the “banana” position.
